Monday, October 26, 2020

In major initiatives, the government introduced a plan to ban plastics by 2021. The government proposes to ban six items: plastic checkout bags, straws, stir sticks, six-pack rings, cutlery, and food ware made from hard-to-recycle plastics. The government is calling for comments on its discussion paper, A Proposed Integrated Management Approach to Plastic Products to Prevent Waste and Pollution, to implement regulations. Submissions are open until Dec. 9. Regulations are expected by end of 2021.
