Support from ESDC for SMEs to take part in apprenticeship

Thursday, November 3, 2022

Employers can receive a $5,000 cash incentive to hire first-year apprentices in 39 Red Seal Trades, and an additional $5,000 if the apprentice is from an underrepresented group.

Eligibility:

  • You must be an employer with 499 or fewer paid employees

How it works: ESDC (Employment and Social Development Canada) funds organizations that work with employers in the skilled trades. The organizations give financial support to small and medium-sized employers to hire first-year apprentices. They also provide other supports to employers to help them take part in apprenticeship.

Note: Review the list of providers of Apprenticeship Service supports by region. Please refer to your region's provider's website for more information on how to apply.
