Friday, October 28, 2022
AMC is pleased to announce the next speaker session in its lineup for THRIVE, the 50th Annual AMC Convention & Trade Show.
Scott Cedarquist, ASABE Standards & Technical Director, will present The Future of Agricultural Machinery Standards in Canada.
Many Canadian Manufacturers currently use ASABE Standards in the design of their agricultural products. ASABE has applied to the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) and is in the process of becoming accredited as a Canadian Standards Developing Organization. Scott Cedarquist, ASABE Standards & Technical Director, will be presenting the plans of the newly formed Canadian Agricultural Systems Standards Oversight / Surveillance des normes des systèmes agricoles canadiens committee (CASSO/SNSAC) committee. Included will be expected deliverables of the committee and the SCC expectations. Additionally, Scott will cover current connectivity to Canadian organizations and the various established Canadian ISO mirror committees for agricultural machinery.
Scott has served as Director of Standards and Technical Activities for ASABE since July 2001. Since joining ASABE, Scott has worked to maintain and strengthen the 100-year-old standards program for agricultural, food, and biological systems. In addition to maintaining the existing body of standards, Scott is focused on streamlining the ASABE standardization procedures, expanding the role of the Society in international standardization and improving available resources and collaborative software for standards development. He actively participates in the American National Standards Institute and the National Tractor Safety Coalition.
Scott has previous experience working with standards in the commercial nuclear power industry and holds a BSME from the University of Illinois. He is active in land-use and farmland preservation efforts as a member of the Van Buren County Michigan Planning Commission.
