REGINA Nov. 22, 2018 – Agricultural Manufacturers of Canada Executive Director Steve McCabe made the statement below, following Finance Minister Bill Morneau's delivery of the fiscal and economic update.
“Agricultural Manufacturers of Canada applauds the government for increasing business confidence in Canada by making changes to the capital cost allowance so that businesses can write off the cost of machinery and equipment immediately as well as introducing the Accelerated Investment Incentive, in line with our 2019 pre-budget submission. We are pleased to see an emphasis in the economic update on trade diversification and a goal to increase overseas trade by 50 per cent by 2025. Canadian agricultural equipment manufacturers export $1.9 billion worth of farm equipment to over 150 countries and will be a key contributor to Canada's goal of increased exports. The $100 million investment over six years through CanExport will help our members remain global leaders of agricultural equipment. As they have done for decades, our member companies will continue to expand and innovate in the name of competitiveness, particularly when it comes to the export markets so important for ours, and Canada's, future growth and prosperity.”
